Indians have no doubt benefited in several ways- it offers career opportunities and financial growth. However, the list of beneficiaries also includes the companies who invest in offshore outsourcing in India not only to cut application and maintenance costs but to be able to deal more effectively with the various nuances of software development and to concentrate on more strategic work. There are a lot of factors that make India the ideal offshore destination for outsourcing.

  • They include the great number of IT professionals who provide quality human resources. These candidates are not only technically trained but are well educated.

  • The key factor that encourages outsourcing in India is the cost of living which is much less as that compared to America and the European countries.

  • Other important factors include the availability of management skills and tools for IT infrastructure, quality Indian IT firms that meet international standards and finally, the support of the Indian government in making Software outsourcing to India a success story.

These factors are a money-spinner for multinationals such as IBM, Dell, Hewitt-Packard, Microsoft, General Motors, British Aerospace and General Electric. India has almost 3,000 software services companies, out of which at least 15 employ more than 20,000 workers, and some including Infosys Technologies, Tata Consulting Services and Wipro Technologies have garnered international recognition and a global clientele.
